With the complimentary authentic estate and engineering skills of James and his father Goff, they initially undertook investing in and managing lenient density residential developments and acting as development managers for important scale industrial and mixed use developments. This led to the establishment of the beginning of a number of M Series managed funds, which seek to target enhanced risk adjusted returns by applying the core real estate skills of the senior leadership team. Markham is a Sydney based genuine estate investor and manager of commercial property. Our leadership team consists of experienced industry professionals with different and complementary skills across the genuine estate sector. James leads and manages the group and participates in many aspects of the business. He has a background that covers all property sectors and asset classes but his focus is on investment, development and commercial property. Prior to joining Markham, Cameron spent time at Mir vac, Grocon and Charter Hall where he gained important experience in deal origination, project structuring and investment management. He can be credited with transactions with a cumulative value approaching 5 billion across the commercial, retail, industrial and residential sectors throughout Australia. Max is both very experienced and commercially astute with more than 30 years in the property sector. He first acted for the business in 1997 while a solicitor at Minter Ellison. Since then, he has been involved on the stuffed legal life cycle of most of our property investments (funding, acquisition, leasing, improving and sale). The senior leadership team is supported by experienced personnel in asset and property management, finance and accounting, investment analysis and marina and office management. Core to Markham’s governance principles is its trustee directors who yield independent oversight for investors. James has advised on and executed mergers and acquisitions transactions valued at more than AU100 billion. Prior to establishing Murchison, James held a management position with KPMG (formerly Peat Warwick) in audit, business services and insolvency. His long corporate and accounting experience includes establishing sustainable corporate governance frameworks, risk assessment and management processes for businesses. Markham’s approach to investing and developing and managing genuine estate is based on the following core principles: We are not driven by wealth lower management but rather investing in appropriate real estate with the right risk adjusted returns. We carefully monitor and assess market conditions and align our strategies. Each fund is managed by Markham and governed by a Markham trustee that is licensed and includes a majority of autonomous directors.
