Market research consultancy and paper are the main activities of this business. Paper can be a sustainable resource, as long as we treat it like one. Refer to our website to know more about us.

THOUSAND TREES is a notforprofit organization that grew organically from the employees at 10 THOUSAND FEET, a strategic market research company who after years of probono labor wanted to create the first community project of its own. 10 THOUSAND FEET is at the forefront of accepting what is crucial to consumers. Research was showing that while the environment was an area consumers considered in their purchases it was well after other factors such as value for money, service or product and brand image. Consumers and businesses also found it hard to get their head around concepts such as the EST and how carbon offsetting works. These two factors combined to create a climate where inactivity on one of the earth’s major challenges was the norm. Being passionate about the environment, the 10 THOUSAND FEET team decided to create a program which simplified the process of consumers contributing to a more environmentally sustainable future. When we consume brochures, letterheads or post it notes it is effortless to see that they arrive from trees, whereas carbon and carbon trading is a little harder to visualize, at minimum for now. So as the team drew up the program they took tangible steps to create a program which would change the way consumers thought about their own consumption. The program promotes a holistic consideration of the life cycle of the resources impaired in the course of personal consumption and business, starting with paper. That means if we think about paper we think about the tree it takes to make that paper. Where do these trees come from? What impact are they having on their local environment when they are cut down to make paper? What happens to the paper when we are done with it? By asking these questions and actively encouraging other organizations to do the equivalent 10 THOUSAND TREES was born.

Making trees a sustainable resource for future generations. The beauty of it is, trees are a natural, sustainable resource. 10 THOUSAND TREES has two key projects where you can help. In Australia, by taking land that was cleared of trees generations ago and bringing native trees back that are worn to provide sustainable resources such as paper, we can have the superior of both worlds, a modern society that is busy solid to bring balance back to the earth for today and for our children’s future. In our newest projects in Nepal, by occupied with local community groups to plant fruit trees on hilly land that is otherwise left fallow, we will offer locals a fresh income source and with it choices around their work and their children’s education greater nutrition, as they typically wouldn’t be qualified to afford fruit and better air quality as the trees soak up carbon into their roots, trunk and branches. Our contributors and planting partners have not only put money and time into the planting of our trees, but have importantly got the message of sustainability, of making wiser consumption decisions and taking care of our resources out to over 4 million Australians through their communications. Our contributors have not only enabled us to get our first forest planted, but have helped us reach the mass public as well as influential niches with key environmental messages about sustainable consumption and sustainable interaction with the environment. There are many and different examples of the message getting out. BLT the leading Australian publication for the advertising and communications industry offset the paper in one year’s printing of their magazine. Our forest partners, Australian Blue Gum Plantations ensure that best practice is followed in the management of the forest to take into account the local animals that arrive across the forest from nearby national and state parks. As climate change has an impact on our global ecosystem, the dispute has become about how much carbon is in the atmosphere, how much carbon we as individuals produce, how much industry produces and how much is naturally produced in events such as volcanic eruptions. Billions of people use paper every day, they use it as currency, read books, conduct their business, record their history, create art, print photographs, wrap food, blow their noses, correspond on it and write a note to put on the kitchen counter for their kids to read about the food they have made for them. If done right, paper is something that can be consumed sustainable, something that can unite rather than distance us from our ecosystem and something that can open the door in people’s minds to more sustainable consumption of other resources. Begin your journey by accepting the connection you have to paper and trees and check out our paper calculator. The Australian native species naturally encourage animals back to what was farming land, and are
