The Boating Industry Association (BIA) provides a forum to discuss industry needs, problems and solutions and serves as the representative of the industry to Federal, State and Local Government departments and agencies, as healthy as other industry bodies, corporate interests, allied organizations, media and the public. Our members get Australians onto the water, through the manufacture, wholesale or retail of products and services to the recreational boating consumer, and light commercial marine operators. The Association strives to ensure that its members’ voices are heard in all suitable government, community and industry forums, to ensure any decisions that impact this lifestyle truly consider the needs of the boating community. The main objective of the BIA is to support and improve the sustainability of the recreational and light commercial marine industry. Support ongoing and permanent improvements to safety, training, facilities and legislation apropos to the industry, with a focus on self regulation. Work with good organizations and authorities to address issues related to the environment, boating safety, waterways infrastructure, access to waterways and related public facilities. Conduct a national program of boat shows to encourage wider awareness of the industry both internally and externally. The BIA operates lower the direction of a Board of Directors, made up of representatives from each of the participating States. Each State has a Council that is energetic in ensuring local matters are identified and resourced for the gain of all members. Members meet in specific industry sector committees, including: This provides the organization with the insight and intelligence on the global market, keeping the BIA and its members at the cutting edge of emerging trends and regulatory issues. Marine Card Program The Marine Card Program provides an industry wide approach to improve safety awareness and performance, streamline compliance, and encourage a culture of commitment to HHS in our industry. It comprises: a HHS General Induction designed specifically for the industry, a dedicated website designed to aid the exchange of vital HHS information between Contractor and Marine site, and an automated Access Management System designed to streamline and clarify Contractor access and compliance management at marine industry workplaces. Advocacy The Boating Industry Association is the leading voice and authority to government departments, associated bodies and interest groups, representing the boating and marine Industry. The BIA is active in the legislative field and offer or urge key legislation favorable to the recreational boating industry and boat users, and express the concerns of Industry to Government. Industry Advice The BIA offers members advice on a variety of matters. As an industry Association charged with the responsibility to promote and help members succeed, advice is given either directly through one of its own product and service specialists, or through other leading third party organizations. In doing so, education programs are created to confront the need, or sourced externally if suitable. Educational programs are also organized for groups exterior the membership base to include activity for the benefit of the environment, recreational boating safety, or the boating community. Published since the mid 1970’s, this publication not only is the tool by which members are kept informed on matters pertaining to the industry, but also acts as a historical record of the Associations activities. Shows and Events Piece of its public face, delivering the sure elements of the recreational boating lifestyle, are the Associations shows and events. Some of these events with extensive history have proven to be a highlight for many booties whose annual pilgrimage serves to reconnect them with like minded people with similar passions.
