Northside is a unique church in so many ways. And the good news is there's room for you - whether you're a visitor to our city or a permanent resident looking for a contemporary setting in which to learn more about the christian faith. They're drawn from a wide range of ethnic and social backgrounds, with a strong sense of unity - all seeking to fulfil our mission for god in this part of the world. But it's not the location that makes northside unique; it's the people who form our church community. The pacific highway, a major bus route, is less than 2 minutes away and there is good freeway access to most areas of the greater sydney metropolitan area. We're located at the base of a modern apartment block right in the heart of one of the busiest parts of australia - on the northern side of sydney's beautiful harbour - just 5 minutes drive from the famous harbour bridge! we're easily accessible by all forms of transport, with one of the most modern suburban railway stations (st leonards) just a few minutes walk from our ministry centre. What made his message so captivating? Academics have their store in our world, but practitioners often garner a diverse type of respect. Holst’s message was not about theory rather, it was about practice. He talked about ideas that work leaders like that. Holst also spoke with the virtuous authority of a leader who personally walks the talk. I’ve known Holst for many years he has challenged our complete organization to rise overhead our competition. He is accommodating to divulge us the way through his actions, not honest his words that’s genuine integrity. What was less known to some was what Holst didn’t say: authentic, unconditional service connects with people at a deep, personal, often emotional level. When we build organizations, including churches, with service as one of our highest values, we are latter Christ’s admonition to be His imitators. Jesus’ life and ministry was devoted to serving people. Some would even complete that service is counter cultural. Think about how often you experience unusual service. What Jesus taught and modeled about serving others was also counter cultural in the first century. Have you considered the implications for your organization, even your church, if you were to embrace the value and practice of extraordinary service? You would not only be an exception in our world, you could reflect God’s heart and allow people to see and experience His unconditional love no strings attached. Is service one of your stated core values (or excellence, or something else that should drive outstanding guest experiences)? Is service one of the core metrics on your scorecard? Have you embraced serving others as a personal lifestyle? I have one suggestion: Make serving others a priority in your own life first. Once you and I are qualified to make this our beginning instinct and our beginning response, we can legitimately begin the journey to construct a service culture. If Jesus had just talked about serving others and not been accommodating to model this behavior, what would that have conveyed? If leaders choose a life dedicated to serving others, there is a much greater likelihood our organizations can become obvious as places of remarkable service. When that happens, not only will the world be better for it, we will be as well.
